About the Opportunity

The sanctions advisory team is an important component of our global compliance framework, ensuring our business complies with complex and ever-changing sanctions regulations across multiple jurisdictions. We are responsible for staying abreast of regulatory developments, providing critical decision support for escalated alerts, and providing advisory services to various departments within the company. Our team works closely with other compliance functions, legal, engineering, and business departments to implement effective sanctions controls and reduce risk. We foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing atmosphere where each team member plays a crucial role in strengthening the organization's sanctions compliance capabilities.

What You Will Do

  • Sanctions Monitoring & Review: Stay informed about OFAC, UN, EU, and other global sanctions developments and provide advice on their impact on internal policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Level 2 Escalation & Decision-Making: Provide expert-level analysis and make decisions on sanctions alerts escalated by Level 1 teams, including alerts flagged by blockchain analysis and name screening tools.
  • Advisory Services: Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to various business units and functional teams on complex sanctions compliance matters.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit required documents to regulatory authorities.
  • Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs on sanctions regulations and updates to sanctions operations teams and other stakeholders.
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining sanctions-related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Investigation: Lead or support investigations into potential sanctions issues and escalate to senior management or relevant departments as needed.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as legal, risk, and operations to ensure sanctions compliance controls are consistently implemented.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement sanctions compliance process improvements, including enhanced screening tools and alert management.

What We Expect From You

  • Extensive experience in sanctions compliance within banking, fintech, or other financial services sectors.
  • Deep understanding of OFAC regulations and experience handling international sanctions (EU, UN, HMT, etc.).
  • Experience managing escalated sanctions alerts using screening tools and blockchain analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, especially under high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to train and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in law, finance, compliance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to translate complex sanctions regulations into actionable steps and ensure regulatory compliance.
